Soln:
Given data are:
Height = 1 meter = 100 cm
Diameter = 140 cm = 2r ⇒ r = 70 cm
Total surface area of closed cylindrical tank = 2πr(r + h)
or, Total surface area of closed cylindrical tank = 2 × (22/7) × 70 × (70 + 100)
or, Total surface area of closed cylindrical tank = 2 × 22 × 10 × 170 = 74800 cm² = 7·48 m²
Hence, metal sheet will remain left after forming the tank = 8 - 7·48 = 0.52 m²

given h= 1m
d= 140 cm, r=70cm= 0.7m
area of cylinder= 2πr(r+h)=8 m square
2×22÷7×0.7(1+0.7)
=7.48
8-7.48=0.52m square
d= 140 cm, r=70cm= 0.7m
area of cylinder= 2πr(r+h)=8 m square
2×22÷7×0.7(1+0.7)
=7.48
8-7.48=0.52m square
