Solution -

The question is talking about a closed cylinder means we have to find it's total surface area

∵ Total Surface Area of cylinder

= 2πr(r + h)

∴ Total Surface Area of given cylinder

= [ 2 × 22/7 × 7(7 + 3) ] m²   [∵ π = 22/7]

= [ 44 × 10 ] m²

= 440 m²

∴ We need 440 m² of metal sheet to cover the given cylinder

Given =

Radius of the cylindrical tank = 7 m

Height of that tank = 3 m

Now ,

The metal sheet required to make it =

Its total surface area =

= 2πr (r+h)

= 2 × 22/7 ×7 (7+3)

= 2×22/7 ×7× 10

= 2× 22× 10

= 440 m²

The area of the sheet required is 440 m² .
