Answer:

A closely wound solenoid of 800 turns and area of cross section 2.5 × 10−4 m2 carries a current of 3.0 A. Explain the sense in which the solenoid acts like a bar magnet. ... A current-carrying solenoid behaves as a bar magnet because a magnetic field develops along its axis, i.e., along its length.

 A current carrying closely wound solenoid acts like bar magnet . each of the turn provide a dipole moment and all turns together provides the dipole moment of the magnet.

so, use formula for total magnetic moment ,

\bf{M=NIA}M=NIA

Here, M is the total magnetic moment

N is the number of turns

I is the current carried by closely wound solenoid

and A is the cross section area .

Here, N = 800 , I = 3 A and A = 2.5 × 10^-4 m²

M = 800 × 3 × 2.5 × 10^-4 = 0.6Am²
