The answer is 20 choices.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Number of types of cloth = 2
  • Number of patterns each cloth can have = 2
  • Number of colors of each cloth = 5
  • Total choices possible =2\times 2\times 5 = 20

OR

  • Cotton cloth can have design pattern A in 5 different colors.
  • Cotton cloth can have design pattern B in 5 different colors.

So, Total = 5+5=10 varieties in cotton cloth.

Similarly, there would be 10 varieties in terrycot.

Hence, a total of 10+10 = 20 choices would be available for the merchant to purchase.
