Answer:

Given:-

  • A cloth merchant on sells 27 metres of cloth
  • It obtains a profit equal to the selling price of 9 meters of the same cloth

Find:-

  • Gain percentage?

Solution:-

Let selling price of 1 meter cloth = 1₹

So, selling price of 27 meter cloth = 27₹

Cost price of 1meter cloth = x

So, the cost price of 27 meter cloth = 27x

We know that... ⤵

 \boxed{ \sf{Profit = sp - cp}}

{  \sf{ \to{9 = 27 - 27x}}}

{ \to{ \sf{27x = 27 - 9}}}

{ \sf{ \to{27x = 18}}}

{ \sf{ \to{x =  \frac{18}{27} =  \frac{2}{3}  }}}

So, the cost price of 1 m cloth = 2/3

CP of 27 meter cloth:-

{ \to{ \sf{ \frac{2}{3} \times 27 }}}

{ \to{  \sf{18}}}

So, the CP of 27 m cloth is 18

Profit = SP - CP

27 - 18 = 9₹

Profit percentage:-

{ \sf{ \to{profit =  \frac{9}{18} \times 100 }}}

{ \sf{ \to{profit =  \frac{100}{2} = 50\% }}}

So, the gain percent is 50%
