(1 - 10/100)*(1 + MP/100)*C = (1 + 8/100)*(1 + 25/100)*C

or (1 + MP/100)*0.90 = 1.08*1.25

or 1 + MP/100 = 1.08*1.25/0.90 = 1.50

or MP/100 = 0.50 or MP = 50% …… (1d)

Therefore from (1d) it is evident that

the percentage by how much the cloth should be marked up = 50%
