A cloth merchant sold 75 1/2 m of cloth on a day. He sold 36 3/4 m of cloth the next day. How much cloth did he sell in all in those two days?​

we can write

75 \times \frac{1}{2}

as ( 75×2 + 1 ) / 2 = 151 /2

and

36 \times \frac{3}{4}

as ( 36×4 + 3 )/4 = 147 / 4

now taking LCM of both

151/2 + 147/ 4 = ( 151 ×2 + 147 )/4 = 449/4 m cloth
