Answer:

GUILTY COBBLER

Once upon a time, there lived a Cobbler by name Mellen, he is an old man who loves offering shoes to the kids who cannot afford to buy them. He has a filthy old bag and he will always carry it wherever he goes. Mellen spends all his time in making shoes and offering it to the poor. This makes him happy and at the end of the day, he will go to sleep in a peace of mind by hugging his filthy old bag.

Mellen never stayed at one place, he keeps shifting from one village to the other. Eventually, he moved to the neighbouring village carrying his filthy old bag along with him. He chose a good tree to settle down and he began to do his work. Days passed by but on no occasion, he gets tired of making shoes and offering them.

One day when Mellen was walking on the roadside, suddenly he noticed a little boy sitting in one corner and crying. He rushed towards him and asked him, “my dear kid, why are you crying? what is your problem?, share with me and I will try to solve it for you. Please stop crying”. The boy looked at his face and replied that he is feeling hungry and did not eat anything for the past two days. Mellen felt pity for him and tried to convince him by telling, “come, my dear little boy, I will buy food for you, don’t cry come let us move”. The little boy sadly said that “uncle, I cannot walk, I have legs but they are helpless, I can only stand. Mellen without thinking further he carried him and took to the roadside shop and brought him food to eat. That day Mellen felt very happy and something made him feel completely satisfied.

A couple of minutes later, Mellen, by clearing his throat, said to the little boy that, “hmmm… look here my boy, I have decided to take you with me and hereafter I am going to take care of you, but the only problem is I do not have a proper house to stay. Do you have any objection to this? or are you ready to come along with me?”. Instantly the boy embraced him with happy tears, and Mellen embraced him back. They both looked at each other and happily took off to his hut.

The cobbler named the little boy as Angelo. Mellen taught him how to make shoes, years passed by and Angelo was a grown up boy and Mellen became very old. During the days they spent together, Mellen found that Angelo is a pure-hearted boy who loves to help poor. On seeing this, Mellen wanted to reveal a secret to him.

One fine day, Mellen and Angelo was sitting under a tree and making shoes, all of a sudden, Mellen said to Angelo that, “Angelo, now stop working and listen to me, I want to tell you something which is more important”, and then he carried him inside the hut and made him sit in one corner and he came and sat beside him with his filthy old bag.

Mellen slowly took a pair of beautiful wooden shoes. Angelo was amazed by looking such a beautiful wooden shoes from inside a filthy old bag. Mellen gradually uncovered the secret by telling him that, “Angelo, this shoe is a very special one because it is a magic shoe. My grandfather gave this to me, and now I decided to give this to you”. Mellen handed over the precious wooden shoes to Angelo and then he moved out to continue his work.

Angelo crawled out of the hut and asked aloud, “I cannot walk, then for what you gave me this shoes, it’s of no use. Better you keep this to yourself”. Angelo was sitting wistfully by staring at the wooden shoes. Later on, Mellen came inside the hut and carried him out and then he ordered him to put on the shoes. Angelo stared at him doubtfully, but again and again, Mellen asked him to put on them. Without any options he did.

Mellen stepped back and then with a smiling face he urged him to get up and walk. Angelo was shocked and he did the same. Surprisingly he was able to walk. Angelo felt extremely happy and he was able to walk, run like others and he was speechless. Mellen called him with open arms, Angelo came running towards him and embraced him happily and said him that he is very lucky.

Mellen, a few minutes later, smilingly said that “there is another surprise for you!”, again he moved back and asked him to hit the ground with his leg, and he did so. Instantaneously Angelo began to raise from the ground. He was able to fly. Angelo screamed, “I am flying!”. Instantly he let all his sorrows out and felt it was the happiest moment of his life.

At the end of the day, Mellen and Angelo slept with complete peace of mind and they lived happily ever after.
