Given : A coil draws a current of 1.0 ampere and a power of 100 watt from an A.C. source of 110 volts and 5√22 /π hertz.

To Find : the inductance and resistance of the coil.

Solution:

P = I²R

=> 100 = (1)²R

=> R = 100 Ω

Resistance of coil = 100 Ω

Z = V/I

=> Z = 110/1

=> Z = 110 Ω

Z²  = R²  + (ωL)²

=> 110²  = 100² +  (ωL)²

=> 2100  = (ωL)²

=> ωL = √2100

=> 2πfL  = 10 √21

f =  5√22 /π

=> π f  = 5√22

=> 2 (5√22) L= 10 √21

=> L = √21 / √22

Inductance of coil =  √21 / √22   H
