The current comes out from the page Q in the anti-clockwise direction.

  • The direction of the magnetic field is determine through the rule that is named as right-hand thumb rule.
  • In which the thumb represents the direction of the current flowing and the fingers that are curled represents the magnetic field.
  • As from the P current goes inside which means the direction of the magnetic field is clockwise.
  • But at Q the current is coming out, therefore it will opposite to the P point and therefore the direction of magnetic field is anticlockwise.

Answer:

  1. The current flows into the page downward direction, the field lines are in clockwise direction at P
  2. at Q it come out of the page means here the field lines are in anticlockwise direction
  3. the resulting magnetic lines of force around it will be on right side away from the coil
