The probability that at least one head is obtained is \frac{7}{8}

Solution:

When a coin is tossed 3 times, sample space is:

(HHH, HHT, HTH THH,TTT,TTH,THT,HTT)

Thus,

Total number of possible outcomes = 8

favorable outcomes = at least 1 head =  1 head or 2 head or 3 head

favorable outcomes = HHH, HHT, HTH THH,TTH,THT,HTT

Thus,

Number of favorable outcomes = 7

Probability = \frac{ \text{ Number of favorable outcomes }}{ \text{ Total number of possible outcomes }}  \\\\Probability = \frac{ 7 }{8}

Thus, the probability that at least one head is obtained is \frac{7}{8}
