The area of the carpet is 572 square meters and the area uncovered by the carpet is 208 square meters.

Explanation:

Formula:  Area of rectangle = Length x width

Given : The dimensions of the hall = 30 m by 26 m

Area of floor of the hall = 30 x 26 = 780  square meters

A coir carpet is placed in a hall so as to leave a border of 2 m wide all around the hall.

So , the  dimensions of the carpet =  (30-2(2)) m by (26-2(2)) m = 26 m by 22 m

Area of carpet= 26 x 22 = 572 square meters

Area uncovered = Area of floor of the hall - Area of carpet

= 780-572  square meters

= 208 square meters.

∴ The area of the carpet is 572 square meters and the area uncovered by the carpet is 208 square meters.
