A colloidal solution is subjected to an electric field. The particles move towards anode. The coagulation of same sol is studied using NaCl, BaCl₂ and AlCl₃ solutions. The order of their coagulation power should be –
(a) NaCl > BaCl₂ > AlCl₃
(b) BaCl₂ > AlCl₃ > NaCl
(c) AlCl₃ > BaCl₂ > NaCl
(d) BaCl₂ > NaCl > AlCl₃

the answer should be C)

because the particles moves towards anode ,so particls of colloidal solution must posses negative charge .

therefore to coagulate them the positively charged particle will be used.

according to Hardy Schulze rule : the coagulation power is directly proportional to the charge on the coagulating particle .

so greater the charge on the coagulating particle higher is the coagulation pawer

thus C) Is write answer
