Explanation:

Basically, mixure is a component of 2 or more substances...in the example both of them join to give mixtures only....also salt and iron filling donot have a uniform composition throughout..so only...hope u got the answer

Iron is magnetic and the other two not , which means a magnet could be used to attract the iron filings out of the mixture ,living the salt and sand......
