Hey friend....
In the simplest terms, a star generates it’s own light by a process of nuclear reaction. A comet does not… it is simply a body of ice/rock/whatever travelling through space. It is lit up by the stars it passes which are shining light on it.
There are many other differences between the two - such as size, movement, and so on… but basically, a star is like our sun. A comet is like a rock flying through space.
