Given :- A committee of seven women agree to subscribe a sum of money among them. The first six are to pay Rs. 10 each and the seventh has to pay 6 more than the average of the seven. Find the amount that has to be

paid by the seventh ?

Solution :-

Let the 7th woman paid Rs.x .

so,

→ All 7 paid = 6 * 10 + x = Rs.(60 + x)

then,

→ Average paid by 7 = Total 7 paid / 7 = (60 + x)/7 .

A/q,

→ (60 + x)/7 + 6 = x

→ (60 + x + 42)/7 = x

→ 102 + x = 7x

→ 6x = 102

→ x = Rs.17 (Ans.)

Hence, the amount that has to be paid by the seventh is Rs.17 .
