Given:

A committee of three person is to be constituted from a group of two men and three women in how many ways can this be done.

To find:

How many of these committee would consists of 1 men and 2 women.

Solution:

From given, we have

A committee of three person is to be constituted from a group of two men and three women in how many ways can this be done.

We are supposed to select a committee of 5 people taken 3 at a time

The required number of ways = nCr

= 5C3

= 10 ways

Total of 2 men and 3 women

Selection: 1 man from 2 men

2C1 = 2

Selection: 2 women from 3 women

3C2 = 3

Therefore, the number of ways to select 1 men and 2 women is

= 2 × 3 = 6 ways

In 6 ways committee would consists of 1 men and 2 women.
