A company ‘M’ limited is manufacturing mobile phones both for
domestic Indian market as well as for export. It had enjoyed a
substantial market share and also had a loyal customer following.
But lately it has been experiencing problems because its targets have
not been met with regard to sales and customer satisfaction. Also
mobile market in India has grown tremendously and new players
have come with better technology and pricing. This is causing
problems for the company. It is planning to revamp its controlling
system and take other steps necessary to rectify the problems it
is facing.

(i) It helps in achieving desired goals.

(ii) It helps in judging accuracy operations and Standards.

(iii) It helps in making efficient and effective use of resources.

(iv) It helps in ensuring proper flow of orders and that the whole system is in discipline.

(v) It facilitates coordination and improves the performance of every individual.

(vi) It helps in improving employees morale.

 

(2) Planning provide benchmark against which control is exercised. This process takes place by measurement of performance, pointing out deviations and revising plans. Thus , planning is the basic of control and only after control new standards are set i.e existing standards revised.

 

(3) The company can follow the following controlling system to remove the problems it is facing :  

(i) Setting performance standards.

(ii) Measurement of performance.

(iii) Comparing actual performance with standards.

(iv) Analysing deviations.

(v) Taking corrective action.

 

(4) The techniques of control the company can use are critical point control and management by exception.
