let one angle be x another be x+40
x+x+40 = 90
2x +40 = 90
2x = 50
x = 50/2 = 25

therefore other angle is x + 40
as they are both complementry
therefore x + x + 40 = 90
2x = 50
x = 25
therefore x + 40 = 25 + 40 = 65
therefore angles are 25 and 65
