a) There are five possible cases in the formation of an image by a concave mirror when the object is located at


• Beyond C

• At C

• Between C and F

• At F

• In front of the focal point.


Where C=Centre of curvature, F= focal point

b) The formation of an image by concave mirrors can be real or virtual. Real images are the one which is formed in front of the mirror, can be enlarged, reduced or even the same size as an object or inverted.


Virtual images are behind the mirror or upright.
