It was a bright, sunny day. The people of our island got a break today after days of continuous rainfall. Schools, colleges and offices were declared as a holiday as part of preventive and safety measures. I was lazing around in my bedroom thinking of how wonderful it had been spending the last 3 days at my house after months of stressful work. This was kind of a mini-vacation that I desperately needed to get recharged to start the same monotonous work that I am now used to doing.
My mom was calling me downstairs for lunch. I told her I would be downstairs in another few minutes hoping to extend lazing around. While I was enjoying my solitude, I felt like I heard someone banging my room windows from the outside. I thought it was strange as my room was situated on the second floor and there were no normal means of someone banging the windows. I got a bit worried and I was contemplating whether to open the window or not. When I made a move, suddenly the windows flew wide open and the outside environment had become too dark. It was suddenly very chilling and my heart was pounding very loudly due to shock. I stood frozen on the spot while my instincts were technically yelling at me to flee from there. There was someone moving across slowly. It was very creepy and I became very numb. Again I should have run away from the spot, but I stayed rooted. After what seemed like an eternity, what appeared from the window was very ghastly and repulsive. It was a hooded creature with a ghastly face technically floating through space. It just kept staring at me as if it were very hungry and I was a meal it had found after a long time. It advanced towards me slowly with the evil hungry grin across its face. I screamed at the top of my lungs. The creature continued laughing sensing my agony. My mom, who was supposed to be waiting for me downstairs, did not respond to my screaming. All sorts of dreadful things popped into my head. Was the creature laughing because it had harmed my mom fatally? I tried to run but I couldn’t run. I was sweating profusely and I felt like I lost my voice due to my incessant screaming. The creature was still advancing towards me menacingly. I started praying to all the Gods for protection and with renewed determination to save myself, I started screaming again. When the creature was so close to attacking me, I mustered all my energy and moved from the spot to dodge the attack and in the attempt, I slipped and fell towards my study desk far from the door. The creature came towards me with an evil laugh which sent chills down my back and started shaking me vigorously. I continued screaming and shaking and didn’t dare to open my eyes. After a few seconds, I felt drenched in a bucket of water. I thought that this was it, it would be the end of my life in the hands of this psychopathic creature. I prayed to God one last time to make this all go away. When I dared to open my eyes, I could see my mom holding an empty bucket trying to shake me and calm me down. That’s when I was hit by the reality that whatever happened until now was just a dream. Apparently, my mom said I must have fallen asleep and might have had a nightmare in a broad daylight. My mom was just trying to help me wake up after seeing me fall from the bed and screaming at the top of my lungs.
