Hi friend,
The compounds empirical formula is :-
# C1H2O1 => CH2O.
Explanation :-
You can get the number of moles of each element presents in that sample by using the elements respective moler mass.
Now, judging from the values given to you, i will assume that you are supposed to used these moler masses.
1) Carbon = 12.0 g/mole
2) Hydrogen = 1.00 g/mole
3) oxigen = 16.0 g / mole
This mean that you will have :-
For C : 24g. 1 mole C/ 12.0g = 2 moles of C
For H : 4g . 1 mole H / 1.00 g = 4 moles of H
For O : 32g . 1 mole O / 16.0 g = 2 moles of O
The ratio between three element s ;-
1 : 2 : 1 :
.....i hope it helps you
