The compounds empirical formula is :-

# C1H2O1 => CH2O.

Explanation :-

You can get the number of moles of each element presents in that sample by using the elements respective moler mass.

Now, judging from the values given to you, i will assume that you are supposed to used these moler masses.

1) Carbon = 12.0 g/mole

2) Hydrogen = 1.00 g/mole

3) oxigen = 16.0 g / mole


This mean that you will have :-

For C : 24g. 1 mole C/ 12.0g = 2 moles of C

For H : 4g . 1 mole H / 1.00 g = 4 moles of H

For O : 32g . 1 mole O / 16.0 g = 2 moles of O


The ratio between three element s ;-

1 : 2 : 1 :
