\bold{ALUMINA}

Alumina is a highly stable compound and have strong affinity for oxygen hence cant be reduced by reducing agents. It has high temperature approximately of 2050 degrees and for attaining such high temperature much of energy will be wasted and alumina obtained may volatize so to lower its melting point

\bold{Fused \: cryolite \: and \: flurospar \: is \: added} for :-

▶Lowering the fusion point of aluminium which becomes 950 to 2050 degrees.

▶It enhances mobility of the fused mixture by acting solvent for electrolytic mixture.

▶It enchances the conductivity of the mixture since, pure alumina is non conductor of heat.

▶It overcomed the difficulties and the extraction became simpler and cheaper.
