A compound contains 37.5% of carbon,12.5% of hydrogen and rest of oxygen. calculate its empirical formula. if its molar mass is 32, find its molecular formula.​

mass % of carbon=37.5%

mass % of hydrogen =12.5%

mass % of oxygen=(100-50)=50%

Empirical formula=C⁷⁵H²⁵O¹⁰⁰

A.T.P.,Molar Mass of compound=32

Molar Mass of carbon=37.5%×32=37.5÷100×32=12

Molar Mass of oxygen=50%×32=50÷100×32=16

Molar Mass of hydrogen=12.5%×32=12.5÷100×32=4

Molecular mass of one hydrogen molecule =1

so,there will be 4 molecules of H.

Molecular mass of one carbon molecule =12

Molecular mass of one oxygen molecule =16

therefore,the molecular formula=CH⁴OAns
