molecular weight of X4O6 is 4x+96, i think u knows how i get 4x+96 here ??
let me to elaborate
mol. wt of X4O6 = 4* atomic mass of X + 6 * atomic mass of O = 4x + 6*16 = 4x+96..
where x is atomic mass of element X.
so 4x+96 gms of X4O6 contains 4x gms of X.
given, 10 g X4O6 contains 5.72 gms of X.
so we can write, 4x+96 / 10 = 4x/5.72.
solve the equtaion for x .
by solving u can get
x= 32.074 (answer )

Atomic mass of X = 32.075

Explanation:

X4O6

Molecular mass of the compound = 4x + 6(16) = 4x + 96

(4x + 96)g of X4O6 contains 4x weight of x.

Given 10g of the molecule has 5.72g of X.

So we get 4x / (4x+96) = 5.72 / 10

==>  4x * 10 = (4x + 96) * 5.72

40x = 22.88x + 549.12

(40 - 22.88)x = 549.12

17.12x = 549.12

Therefore x = 549.12 / 17.12 = 32.075
