A compound of mg contains 6% of mg by mass. If the minimum molar mass of the compound is n × 102 g/ mol then determine value of ‘n'.

let the mass of the compound of magnesium be 'x'

now, 

         6% of (x) =24

                    

                   6x = 2400

                     

                     x = 400 grams

Now 400 grams is the minimum molar mass of the compound as we assumed that there is only 1 Mg atom in 1 mole of the compound.

Hence n = 4
