A compound with a molecular mass of 34g /mol is known to contain 5.88% hydrogen and
94.12% oxygen .Find the empirical and molecular mass of the compound.(Atomic mass

Out of 34g, 5.88 is hydrogen and 94.12 is oxygen.

5.88 of 34 g = 1.992 g ( 2 g approx)

94.2 of 34 g = 32.008 g ( 32 g approx)

Atomic mass of hydrogen is 1g and that of oxygen is 16g. So the compound has 2 atoms of hydrogen and 2 atoms of oxygen.
