A compound X is bitter in taste.It is a component of washing powder and reacts with dilute HCl to produce brisk effervescence due to colorless , odorless gas Y which turns lime water milky due to formation of Z. If excess of Y is passed, the milkiness disappears due to formation of P. IdentifyX,Y,Z and P.

1) X is Sodium Carbonate(Na2CO3).

2)Y is CO2 gas.

3)Z is calcium carbonate.

4)P is calcium hydrogen carbonate.

the balanced equation:

Ca(OH)2+CO2---------->H2O+CaCO3

CaCO3 +CO2+H2O------------->Ca(HCO3)2

Hope u help this

X is Sodium Carbonate ( Na_{2}CO_{3} ) which is a component of washing powder with a bitter taste .

Y is Carbon dioxide ( CO_{2} ) gas .

Z is Calcium carbonate ( CaCO_{3} ) . Its solution is milky .

P is Calcium hydrogen carbonate [ Ca(HCO_{3})_{2} ] .

The balanced chemical equations are as follows -

Na_{2}CO_{3} + HCl  →  NaCl + H_{2}O + CO_{2}

Ca(OH)_{2} + CO_{2}  →  H_{2}O + CaCO_{3}

CaCO_{3} + CO_{2} + H_{2}O  →  Ca(HCO_{3})_{2}
