as X is bitter ,so it is a base

and as it is a product of washing powder, it is washing soda ,i.e, Na2Co3.10H2O

as the produced gas turns limewater milky, it is Co2

when excess Co2 is passed it formes calcium bicarbonate which is soluble and hence white colour disappears

reactions:-

Na2Co3.10H2o+ dil.HCl

---->Na2Co3+2dil.HCl----->2NaCl+Co2+H2o

here first the water of crystallization of washing soda disappears then reaction occurs

now, Co2+Ca(OH)2---->CaCo3+H2o

when excess co2 is passed:-

CaCo3+H2o+Co2-----> Ca(HCo3)2
