COMPOUND A = COPPER SULPHATE PENTAHYDRATE CRYSTALS / CuSO4.5H2O

CuSO4.5H2OCOMPOUND B = ANHYDROUS COPPER SULPHATE CRYSTALS / Cuso4

REACTION INVOLVED :

On Adding water :

CuSO4 + 5H2O -------> CuSO4 + 5H2O

Formation of Compound A

On heating :-

CuSO4.5H2O ‐‐-‐‐> CuSO4 + 5H20

Formation of Compound B

EXPLANATION :

Copper sulphate looses water of crystallization to become a white coloured substance called Anhydrous Copper Sulphate crystals. Adding water again to white crystals will make them blue as the compound will gain water of crystallization..
