A compound X on heating with excess conc. Sulphur acid at 443k gives us unsaturated compounds Y, X also reacts with sodium metal to evolve a colourless gas 'Z' Identify 'X,Y and Z Write equation of the chemical reaction of formation of Y and also write the role of sulpric acid in the reaction

CH3CH2OH ---con. H2SO4---> CH2=CH2+H2O

The resultants are ethene , and water and it's alcohol which reacts with sulphuric acid... and also when ethanol/alcohol reacts with sodium .. it gives sodium ethoxide + hydrogen gas:-

Na + CH3CH2OH --> CH3CH2Na + H2

And conc. H2SO4 acts as a dehydrating agent
