A compound x on heating with excess conc sulphuric acid at 443k gives an unsaturated compound y x also react with sodium metal to evolve a colour less gas z identify the xyz write the equation of the reaction of formation of y and also write the role of sulphuric acid in the reaction

hey mate here is ur ans..❣️❣️

first of all compound x is ethanol let we know how from the following reaction ...

CH2CH3OH---------h2so4-----ch2=ch2 + h2o
ethanol. sulphuric acid. ethene+ water

therefore compound y is ethene
now 2 case...
compound x also react with Na(sodium)
let us see the following reaction...

Ch2Ch3Oh + Na --------- ch2ch3oNa + h2
ethanol sodium. hydrogen gas

so compound z=hydrogen gas..

In whole reaction sulphuric acid act as a dehydrating acid...
