The sign of magnification describes the nature of image formed.

Explanation:

The magnification of a mirror gives information about the size of the image relative to the object. It is defined as the ratio of size of image to the size of object. It is given by :

m=\dfrac{h'}{h}

h' is the size of image

h is the size of object

The magnification can be positive or negative. The sign of magnification describes the nature of image formed. Positive magnification shows the image is virtual and negative magnification shows the image is real.

The correct option is (A).

Explanation:

(i) Since, image is formed on screen. So, it must be real and inverted.

(ii) Here, u = - x

m = (- v)/u

- 3 = (- v)/(- x)

v = - 3x

Hence, the image is placed at a distance 3 times the object distance in the same side.

(iii) 1/(3x) + 1/x = 2/R

[f = R / 2]

(iv) It is used in search light and headlight of automobiles.
