The focal length of the mirror will be f1 = f2

  • The concave mirror is half dipped in water having focal length as f1.
  • The concave mirror is half in air having focal length as f2
  • In the case of spherical mirrors (both concave and convex), when immersed in water there will be no change in the focal length of the mirrors.
  • This is due to the reason that the mirror focal length does not focus on the external medium it is kept in.
  • Thus, the focal length will be f1 = f2
