A concave mirror is used for image formation.What inferences can be drawn about the following when an object is placed at a distance of 10 cm from the pole of a concave mirror of focal length 15 cm?
(a) Position of the image
(b) Size of the image
(c) Nature of the image

Answer:

(a) 30cm

(b) Highly enlarged

(c) Virtual & erect

Explanation:

u = -10 cm

f = - 15 cm

By mirror formula

1/f = 1/v + 1/u

1/f - 1/u = 1/v

1/-15 + 1/10 = 1/v

-2 + 3/30 = 1/v

1/30 = 1/v

(a) V = + 30 cm

(b) Highly magnified

m = -v/u

m = -30/-15

m = 2

(c) Virtual & erect image.

Answer:

a .position of the mirror

given object distance ( u) =_10cm

focal length (f)= _15cm

by using mirror formula

1/v+1/u=1/f

from the formula

1/v =1/ f_1/u

1/v=1/_15_1/_10

1/v=2/_30_3/_30

1/v=30

v=30

b.size of the image

highly enlarged

c.nature of the image

virtual, erect, real and inverted
