answer : option (d) u and f

if an object is placed between pole and focus of concave mirror, image forms enlarged, virtual and erect behind the mirror.

according to sign convention,

  • object distance is taken as negative.
  • focal length of concave mirror is taken as negative whereas convex mirror is taken as positive.
  • size of object is taken as positive.

hence, option (d) object distance and focal length of concave mirror are negative.

Answer is (d) u and f

As in concave mirror according to sign conventions :

  • Object distance (u) is always negative in case of mirror, and in lens.
  • And in case of concave mirror and concave lens we take focal length (f) as negative while in convex mirror as well as in lens focal length is positive.
  • Size of object is positive where as image size can be positive and negative according to sign conventions
