A concave mirror of radius of curvature 40 cm , produces an image that is 5 times the size of the object. What is the distance between object and its image? [ Answer only if you know the solution!!!]

Given,

R=40cm So,f=20 cm

M=(-v/u)=5 [v is -ve bcoz the image is virtual as its magnified]

So, v=(-5u)

Using Mirror Formula

(1/f)=(1/u)+(1/v)

(1/20)=(1/u)-(1/5u)

u=16 cm v=-5×16=-80

Now we know virtual image in concave mirror are formed on the opposite side of mirror

So, Distance between object and image = u+v

=16+80 (taking magnitude only)

=96 cm
