A Conductor of active length 30 cm carries a current of 100 A and lies at right angles to magnetic field of strength 0.4 Wb/m2. Calculate the force in newtons exerted on it. If the force causes the conductor to move at a velocity of 10m/s, calculate (1). The emf induced in it (2). The power in watts developed by it.

Answer:

A conductor of active length 30 cm carries a current of 100 A and lies at right angles to a magnetic field of strength 0.4 Wb/m2. Calculate the force in newtons exerted on it. If the force causes the conductor to move at a velocity of 10 m/s, calculate (a) the e.m.f. induced in it and (b) the power in watts developed by it.

Answer: 12 N; 1.2 V, 120 W
