Let x be initial no of boxes. Therefore, x+50 now. x+50/2 were used. Now, x+50-x+50/2=40.on solving, the value of x we get is 30.So,ans.=30.

The number of boxes the confectioner had in the beginning is 30.

  • Let the number of boxes of burger be x.
  • Then the confectioner brought 50 more boxes.

The number of boxes of burger then becomes x+50.

  • Now after two days , half the boxes were sold and 40 were left .

Total number of boxes = Half of total boxes + 40

x + 50 = \frac{x+50}{2} + 40

x + 10 = \frac{x+50}{2}

2x + 20 = x + 50

x = 30

  • The number of boxes h had in the beginning is 30.
