he bought box =x he bought 50 more so boxes=50+x . we know half of 50 is 25. so total boxes = 25 +40 =65. so Answer is 65

then he brought 50 more
after this number of boxes are x+50
half boxes were used and he was left with 40 boxes so
that means 40 is the half of those boxes after he brought 50 more boxes
that means x+50 - 40 = boxes used
x+10 = are the boxes he left with now value of x is 30 hence prooved
