Given : In circle with centre O

CD is the diameter and AB is the chord

which is bisected by diameter at E

OA and OB are joined

To prove : ∠AOB = ∠BOA

Proof : In ∆OAE and ∆OBE

OA = OB (Radii of the circle)

OE = OE (Common)

AE = EB (Given)

∴ ∆OAE = ∆OBE (SSS criterian)

∴ ∠AOE = ∠BOE (c.p.c.t.)

Hence diameter bisect the angle subtended by the chord AB.
