here we have to find the cost of canvas cloth required to make the tent @ rupees 70 per m².
we need to find the CSA (tents don't have base) of the conical tent.
we are given here only height and radius of the conical tent but we need the slant height of the conical tent to find it's CSA as we know it's formula is πrl where 'l' is the slant height of the cone.
by Pythagoras theorem we get,
=> (slant height)² = radius ² + height ² (slant height = hypotenuse, radius = base and height = perpendicular)
=> l² = 5² + 12²
=> l² = 25 + 144
=> l² = 169
=> l = √169
=> l = 13m
therefore the slant height of the conical tent is 13m.
now CSA of the conical tent = πrl
= 2 × 22/7 × 13
= 572/7
= 81.71m² (approximately)
therefore cost of canvas cloth required = 81.71 × 70
= 5719.7 rupees
