Answer :-

The body takes 0.5 seconds to stop .

Explanation :-

We have :-

→ Retarding force (F) = 200 N

→ Mass of the body (m) = 50 kg

→ Initial velocity (u) = 2 m/s

To find :-

→ Time taken (t) .

______________________________

• Since the force is retarding force which is bringing the body to rest , so it's magnitude will be -200 N .

• Final velocity of the body (v) will be 0 m/s as the body finally stops.

______________________________

Now, from Newton's 2nd law of motion :-

F = m(v - u)/t

⇒ -200 = 50(0 - 2)/t

⇒ -200(t) = 50(-2)

⇒ -200t = -100

⇒ t = -100/-200

⇒ t = 1/2

t = 0.5 sec

Given :-

A  consrant retarding force of 200N is acting on a body mass of 50 kg moving initially with the speed of 2m/s

To Find :-

Time taken to stop

Solution :-

At first we need to find acceleration

F = ma

-200 = 50(a)

-200 = 50a

-200/50 = a

-4 = a

Now

v = u + at

0 = 2 + (-4)t

0 - 2 = -4t

-2 = -4t

-2/-4 = t

2/4 = t

1/2 = t

0.5 = t
