A constant force acts for 0:5s on a body of mass 1.5 kg initially at rest. When the force ceases to
act, the body is found to travel a distance of 5.0 m in 2.0 s in the direction of the force. Find the
magnitude of the force applied.

Answer:

correct answer is option c (7.5N)

Explanation:

  • initial velocity,u=0 (since, the body is at rest)
  • mass,m=1.5kg
  • time,t=0.5s

magnitude of force on the object will be,

f = ma   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: - (1)

so,we have to find acceleration,a, by using equation of motion,

v = u + at \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  - (2)

and here,we have to find 'v'

velocity =   \frac{displacement}{time}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  - (3)\\  =  \frac{5}{2}   \\  = 2.5

substituting 'v' in (2)

2.5 = 0 + a \times 0.5 \\ a = 5

substituting 'a' in (1)

f = 1.5 \times 5 \\  = 7.5

hope this helps..!
