Given :

  • A constant force is applied fo 2 seconds on a body of mass 5 kg. as a result, if the velocity of the body is changed from 3m/s to 7m/s.

To Find :

  • Force applied = ?

Solution :

  • Time Interval = 2 seconds
  • Mass of the body = 5 kg
  • Initial velocity = 3 m/s
  • Final velocity = 7 m/s

First of all we need to find the acceleration of the body by using first equation of motion :

  • v = u + at

Where,

  • v is the final velocity of the body.
  • u is the initial velocity of the body.
  • a is the acceleration of the body.
  • t is the time taken by the body.

Plug in the given values in above equation of motion we get :

→ 7 = 3 + a × 2

→ 7 - 3 = 2a

→ 4 = 2a

→ a = 4 ÷ 2

a = 2 m/s²

  • Hence,the acceleration of the body is 2 m/.

Now, Let's calculate the force applied by the body :

→ Force = mass × acceleration

→ Force = 5 × 2

Force = 10 N

  • Hence,the force applied by the body is 10 newton
