A constant retarding force of 50N is applied to a body of mass 20kg moving initially with a good speed of 15m/s. How long does the body take to stop

F=ma

a=F/m

=50/20

=2.5 m/s^2

v=u+at

Here force is retarding so

v=u-at

0=u-at

at=u

t=u/a

=15/2.5

=150/25

=6 s

Therefore it took 6 seconds for the body to cease its motion i.e. Stop moving
