Let the container holds N molecules of gas at temperature T.
KE = 3/2 NRT
When, no of molecules are doubled i.e. N' = 2N,
KE' = 3/2 N'RT'
KE' = 3 NRT'
But KE' = KE, hence
3/2 NRT = 3 NRT'
T' = 1/2 T
Absolute temperature of the gas is halved on doubling no of molecules.
