Given :- A container is made by surmounting of cylinder of height h cm on the base of hemisphere as shown in the figure If radii of bases of both the cylinder and hemisphere are r cm then the CSA of container is ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • CSA of cylinder = 2πrh
  • CSA of hemisphere = 2πr²

given that, radii of bases of both the cylinder and hemisphere are r cm and height of cylinder is h cm .

so,

→ CSA of container = CSA of cylinder + CSA of both hemispheres

→ CSA of container = 2πrh + 2πr² + 2πr²

→ CSA of container = 2πrh + 4πr²

→ CSA of container = 2πr(h + 2r) cm² (Ans.)

Given  : A container is made by surmounting of cylinder of height h cm on the base of hemisphere

Ref figure

Radii of bases of both the cylinder and hemisphere are r cm

To Find :  CSA of container is

Solution:

CSA  = Curved Surface Area

CSA of container =  CSA  of Hemisphere + CSA of Cylinder

CSA  of Hemisphere = 2π(Radius)²  = 2πr²

CSA  of Cylinder = 2π(Radius)(height)  = 2πrh

CSA of container =  2πr² +  2πrh

= 2πr(r + h)

CSA of container = 2πr(r + h)  sq units
