A container, opened from the top and made up of a metal sheet, is in the form of a frustum
of a cone of height 16 cm with radii of its lower and upper ends as 8 cm and 20 cm,
respectively. Find the cost of the milk which can completely fill the container, at the rate of
Rs. 20 per litre. Also find the cost of metal sheet used to make the container, if it costs Rs.

Answer:

R=20cm

r=8cm

h=16cm

l=✓h²+(R-r)²

=✓256+(12)²

=✓256+144

=✓400

=20cm

volume=1/3πh(R²+r²+Rr)

=1/3×3.14×16×(400+64+160)

=1/3×3.14×16×624

=10445.76cm³

{1000cm³=1l}

=10.44576 l

cost of milk= 10.44576×20

=Rs.209

area of container= CSA of frustum+Area of bottom circle

=1959.36cm²

cost of sheet=Rs.156.75
