● Explanation -

  • According to Newton's first law of motion, an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force.
  • This is because of inertia. i.e. inability of the change of state of motion unless acted by external force.
  • Thus if the body is already moving, it is automatically kept in motion by inertia.
  • Perhaps, unbalanced force will be required to stop object that is in motion.
